Flame retardant plastics
Flame retardance is achieved either by inherent chemistry (PEI, PPSU, PEEK, PVC, fluoropolymers) or by additive packages (FR grades of ABS, PC, PA, PBT). UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm is the most common electrical-enclosure requirement.
What to look for
- UL 94 V-0 grade documented at your wall thickness
- No halogenated FR if a low-smoke / low-toxicity spec applies
- Balanced impact and heat properties after the FR package
